Maundy Thursday commemorates the events of the Last Supper, Jesus’ arrest, trial and crucifixion.  Maundy is from the Latin mandatum, which means order or command.  It was on Maundy Thursday that Jesus gave his new commandment, “I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you should also love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another” John 13:34-35.  John chapters 18 & 19 contain the scriptures traditionally used for the Maundy Thursday service.

May the Peace of Christ be with you during this most holy of weeks,
